The cabinets, the counters, the fixtures and the trim in a production built house were chosen to hit a number, not to last a lifetime or to suit you specifically. They are usually the first things to feel tired, long before anything structural has aged at all.
That is good news. It means an upgrade here is a finishes project rather than a construction project, and the money goes into exactly the surfaces you use. We can do the kitchen without touching the layout, or open the layout at the same time if that is the real complaint.
Outdoor Rooms
A newer house often comes with a patio slab and nothing over it, which in Alabama means a space that is unusable for a good part of the year. A roof over it, or screen around it, changes that completely and gets used more than most interior rooms.
Whether the existing slab can carry an enclosure is the first question, because a slab poured as a patio is not always adequate as the floor of a room. We check that before quoting rather than after.
