Almost every bad remodeling story has the same two chapters. The price moved after the work started, and the people changed halfway through. Between them they account for most of what homeowners are afraid of when they call a contractor, and both are choices a company makes rather than facts of the trade.
So we made the opposite choices. We price the job after we have walked the house, we put a fixed number in writing, and we keep one crew and one point of contact on your project from the first walkthrough to the final punch list. It is slower to sell and far easier to live with.

Our Story
Our roots go back well over a decade, to building new homes across North Central Alabama. When the housing market collapsed in 2008, custom home building took the worst of it, and we had a choice between waiting for it to come back and rebuilding the company around something else.
We rebuilt. The work moved to remodeling, renovation and additions, and it turned out that the habits of building a whole house are exactly what an older home needs the moment you open up a wall. Knowing how a house is put together is what tells you which surprises matter and which ones do not.
We are owned, managed and operated here in the Birmingham area. Call with a question and you reach us, not a national number and not a machine. It also means our reputation in this market is the only one we have, which is a strong incentive to get your project right.

The Crew
A remodel run on rotating subcontractors has nobody who owns the outcome. The tile setter does not know what the plumber agreed, the painter inherits somebody else mistakes, and the homeowner becomes the project manager by accident.
We keep the same crew on your house from beginning to end, with one person you call. It costs us flexibility and it is the single biggest reason our projects finish the way they were drawn.
Older Houses
The Birmingham metro is full of houses with plaster and lath, framing that was never square, cast iron drains, wiring somebody added decades ago, and floors that slope because the ground moved. A crew that only builds new construction meets all of that for the first time on your job, at your expense.
We look for it during the walkthrough, price for what we find, and tell you plainly which items are worth fixing now and which can wait another ten years.
